Current use: The cup is typically used in cooking to measure liquids and bulk foods, often within. One United States customary cup is equal to 236.5882365 milliliters as well as 1/16 U.S. The conversion factor from cups to gallons is 0.0625, which means that 1 cup is equal to 0.0625 gallons: 1 cup 0.0625 gal. There are three definitions in current use: the imperial gallon (≈ 4.546 L) which is used in the United Kingdom and semi-officially within Canada, the United States (liquid) gallon (≈ 3.79 L) which is the commonly used, and the lesser used US dry gallon (≈ 4.40 L). The metric cup is defined as 250 milliliters. 2-1/2 Gallon White Rectangle Rinse Tank w/5 Lid & 3/4 Molded-in Threads - 15 L x 7 W x 14 Hgt. The gallon (abbreviation "gal"), is a unit of volume which refers to the United States liquid gallon. One customary cup is equal to 236.5882365 millilitres. In the United States, the customary cup is half of a liquid pint or 8 U.S. Because actual drinking cups may differ greatly from the size of this unit, standard measuring cups are usually used instead. It is traditionally equal to half a liquid pint in either US customary units or the British imperial system but is now separately defined in terms of the metric system at values between 1⁄5 and 1⁄4 of a liter. The cup is an English unit of volume, most commonly associated with cooking and serving sizes. Eighty-four Cups is equivalent to five point two five Gallons. To find out how many Cups in Gallons, multiply by the conversion factor or use the Volume converter above. Therefore, to convert c to gal, we multiply the c by 0.0625 or divide the cups by 16. We say that 1 US cup is equivalent to 0.0625 US gallons. The conversion factor from Cups to Gallons is 0.0625. To convert c to gallons, we do need to know how they relate to each other. In this case we should multiply 84 Cups by 0.0625 to get the equivalent result in Gallons:Ĩ4 Cups is equivalent to 5.25 Gallons. The volume in cups is equal to the volume in gallons multiplied by 16. To calculate 84 Cups to the corresponding value in Gallons, multiply the quantity in Cups by 0.0625 (conversion factor). Box O Joe and Cambro will include dairy, sweeteners, stirrers, cups, and lids. Since one gallon is equal to 16 cups, you can use this simple formula to convert: cups gallons × 16. The place is a spectacle, Miriam’s filled it with impressively expensive things, from art to the only “ songspire tree” on the planet. Up at the Bancroft estate Takeshi meets Miriam (Kristin Lehman), as well as her son Isaac (Antonio Marziale). On the streets we see the protests, people wholly opposed to the idea of “ resleeving.” And of course the whole premise of the show’s story is perfect for that – an Asian man’s consciousness is appropriated into the skin-sleeve of a white man a sci-fi, capitalist vision of cultural appropriation. Once all the orientation is over, Takeshi gets a ride from police officer Kristin Ortega (Martha Higareda). Not to mention stuff like “ victim restitution,” where people get their dead children back as old ladies, because that’s what they have in stock. You’re for rent, for many purposes ANY purposes. Yeah, there are benefits, but the government could use you for anything if they’re able to manipulate your consciousness itself in that sense. There are so many ugly ways the state could use human consciousness. He’s owned by Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), a man over 360 years old. Nevertheless, he is property, his consciousness has no civil rights. Kovacs was a mercenary, arrested for “ treason against the Protectorate.” He has quite the laundry list of criminal activity tied to his name. It’s a weird limbo in which the consciousness permanently exists. Meaning, “ real death” comes if the stack is corrupted as in, don’t get your neck broken, or shot in the head. They’ve all got a cortical stack – “ pure human mind” – to which the consciousnesses are downloaded. The new sleeves are brought to an orientation. Not to mention Takeshi sees himself not as himself, but a white man born into Alcatraz. The process is violent if the original sleeve died violently. This is where Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman) is reborn after 250 years. In this version of the future, human consciousness can be uploaded, stored, then downloaded into new bodies, a.k.a a “ sleeve.” So, in a laboratory, new fleshy vessels are born out of bags filled with some kind of pseudo-amniotic fluid. Armed soldiers come through, opening fire, as Takeshi Kovacs (Byron Mann) and his partner Sarah (Olga Fonda) fire back. Before they can grab their guns the wall explodes, knocking them both backward. Afterwards, the man presses the interactive TV screen, and then he says he sees people coming. This first episode is from Out of the Past, a film directed by Jacques Tourneur, starring Robert Mitchum, Kirk Douglas, and Jane Greer. * For a recap & review of the next episode, “Fallen Angel” – click hereĪll of Altered Carbon‘s episode titles come from the names of old film noirs. One other thing: look at the motion your thumbs make, both shifting to the right, then both shifting to the left, as you move from one chord to the other. Slow is better than fast on chords anyway. But that time is totally worth it, because this basic motion will open up a world of possibilities to you. It will take you a while to play this smoothly – like days or weeks or even months of practice. This is key: the high note we add is always on the opposite side to the chord. To the first chord, C major, we added the C note an octave higher. This music works beautifully, because the note we added at the top is actually the same as the note each chord is named after. We are going to add that scale to the chords we previous played. Then back (left) to the E, and alternate your way up to the high C, the last painted tine on the far right. Jump across to the next note up in the scale, D, which is also painted. You can make each one of these triad chords in the upper octave – the upper D minor chord will start on the middle of the right side, on D, then the two outer adjacent tines, F and A.īefore you try to play this tablature, start on your middle C – the painted tine in the middle of the left-hand side. The starting C major chord was on the lower right side. You just take what the kalimba gives you, which fortunately is a good set of chordsĪt the very end of the tablature, we come back to the C major chord, on the mid-upper left side. You cannot control whether something is major or minor – this tuning automatically makes only C major, not ever C minor. You will note some triads are major and some are minor. We start with the C chord, then the D, then E, then F. And remember it!ĭo you see what this music is doing? It is systematically playing every triad on the kalimba (in standard inversions anyway – if that was Greek to you, don’t worry). Is it major, minor or diminished? You may be able to tell from the sound, and if you really need to know, look it up in the accompanying tablature image. What chord is it? Find the lowest note (longest, most central tine) of the three you played, and then find the name of that note. Pluck them, one at a time, or strum them all at once with a glissando. Try this – pick out three adjacent tines at random (be sure not to cross the central black line). (Hey, does the low C belong to the left side or the right side? Do you see the black vertical line in the center of the accompanying tablature, between low C and D? That is an invisible line separating left tines from right tines. To do this, you will probably want to use the glissando technique (see links at the bottom of this blog post). In order to play a triad, play any three adjacent notes on the same side of the kalimba. While this sounds like an advanced technique, if you just focus on the basic thumb motions and ignore which notes you are playing, it is actually very straightforward.Ī triad is a certain type of chord that is common in music, typically made of the 1, 3, and 5 of a certain scale. This lesson will leverage that basic information to help you play chords and melodies together on kalimba. This is related to what I call “Mark’s Rule of Thumb” – if you play two notes that are straight across from each other, they will sound bad… but if you play one note lower and the other note higher, they will sound pleasing. The true beauty of Hugh Tracey’s kalimba design is that when a melody note is played high up with one thumb, then usually the chord that works with that melody note will be low down on the other side. At least for tines with identical thickness and steel properties, longer tines make lower notes and shorter tines make higher notes. Would you like to learn more?įirst, where are the high notes, and where are the low notes? If you are familiar with the kalimba, you know intuitively – the low notes are in the middle, and the high notes are on both the far left and the far right. That note arrangement makes it particularly easy to create melodies high up on the instrument, and simultaneously to produce good chords low down on the instrument that perfectly accompany that high melody. (Of course, they also owe their existence to the hundreds and thousands of people in Africa who pioneered and played the karimba, mbira and related instruments over the last 1000 years.) But most non-traditional kalimbas are copies of the Hugh Tracey kalimba’s design and note arrangement. In an article I wrote earlier this month, I said that every non-traditional kalimba in the world owes its existence to Hugh Tracey. The reward is the Dragon-Embroidered Shirt, which increases the random encounter rate while you wear it. Relatedly, training all three hostesses to #1 completes the optional No. This makes Fashionista one of the two trophies in the game that can be missed over the course of a run. In the latter event, the game considers you to have won Hostess Maker, and the minigame becomes unavailable. For an outfit to count towards the trophy, you must buy the outfits from the Hostess Maker Dress-Up menu, rather than from any other store in Kamurocho, and you must do so at some point before you successfully train all three hostesses up to the #1 spot. You unlock Fashionista by purchasing all twenty-three different outfits while playing Hostess Maker. You can recruit Hiyori from in front of Millennium Tower, Nanami from the Cuez Bar, and Kyoko from Bantam. Choose 'Somethin that heavys sure to do damage.' Essence of Clotheslining - Go to the Nakamichi Alley Poppo. The goal is to get each girl to the #1 spot, much as with Lily in Chapter 1. Choose 'Guy slammed straight into the wall.' Essence of Heavy Weapons - Go to the Docks and focus on the dude in the oil drum. This is the cue to go play Akiyama's unique minigame Hostess Maker, which involves training hostesses at Club Elise. 1: Off the shoulder 2: Charming Bare Top 3: Belted Bare Top 4: Strapless Dress 5: Halterneck 6: Long Halter Top 7: Layered Dress 8: Sexy Dress 9: Mermaid Dress 10: Two-piece Dress 11:Short Halter Top 12: Long Two-piece Dress 13: Miniskirt Dress 14: Spaghetti Strap Dress 15: Balloon Dress 16: Lovely One-piece 17: Cami Dress 18: Cache-Coeur 19: Ladies’ Suit 20: Flashy Suit 21: Cheongsam 22: Maid Dress 23: Schoolgirl Uniform For a guide of how to efficiently do this minigame and earn money for these costumes, CyricZ on GameFAQs made a guide of outfit loadouts for what customers want and how to train hostess skills effectively. You get a call from the manager at Elise during 1-4 asking for help at the club. The last dresses you'll unlock are Long Two-piece Dress, Cami Dress, and Cache-Coeur. This list is as shown after you have all 23 dresses from top to bottom. Note: You do not have to buy every different variation of a dress you only need to buy 1 of every dress to get this achievement. Now with all of that out of the way here is a list of all 23 costumes that you have to buy. 3: There are 23 outfits you can buy but you only unlock a few outfits for every 3-4 full shifts you complete. 2: This achievement is missable if you complete all 3 girls too fast so try to do this before getting whoever your second girl is to number 1 just to be safe. 1: Akiyama is the only character who can do this activity. Now that you know where to find the girls you can recruit I'm gonna give some warnings about this. Nanami is found in Cuez Bar in the Underground Mall with her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend. Kyoko is found in Bantam with her bandmates. Follow her to the west and you'll see her having turned the corner on the right. Shes the demure office lady who broke up with her boyfriend and is searching for a husband. Suffice to say that this is the one that Tanimura can spend time with. She introduced herself as 'Nanami', but her name could be whatever you chose of her. She'll be speaking to her dad and will run off. This is the first of the Hostess Maker hostesses. Hiyori is found right outside Millennium Tower. These are the names and locations of where to find these girls. There are 3 girls total you can recruit but you can only train 1 girl at a time. Once you get this call go over to the club and go inside and you'll be talking to the manager who called you and he'll ask for your help trying to find girls for the club. When you're first playing it getting through the story don't try to spend too much money on Lilly cause whatever money you have left from this will be put into the amount you'll have to use when you start doing this with the other 3 girls. If you played Hostess Maker in Yakuza 3 it's very pretty much the same concept of mixing and matching outfits, makeup, and accessories to please whichever of the 4 stats the customers want. Later on in the part, after Lilly departs after you've given her the money for completing Akiyama's test you'll get a call from Elise's manager saying that he need help and to go meet him. Late into Part 1, you'll be introduced to Hostess Maker as part of the story where you'll have to help Lilly with her test. And so those are the isotopes of hydrogen. Let me go ahead and draw the two neutrons here in the nucleus. So tritium has one proton in the nucleus, one electron outside the nucleus, and we draw that in here, and it must differ in terms of number of neutrons, so tritium has two neutrons. Finally, our last isotope, which is tritium. Deuterium is still hydrogen, it's an isotope. We're talking about atoms of a single element. And that's important because if you change the number of protons, you're changing the element, and that's not what we're doing here. Notice though, that they have the same atomic number, they have the same number of protons in the nucleus. So isotopes have different masses because they differ in terms of number of neutrons. So deuterium has one neutron and since neutrons have mass, deuterium has more mass than protium. I'll use blue here, so neutrons are going to be blue. So let me go ahead and draw in deuterium's one neutron. Deuterium is hydrogen, so it must have one proton in the nucleus and it must have one electron outside the nucleus, but if you look at the definition for isotopes, atoms of a single element that differ in the number of neutrons, protium has zero neutrons in the nucleus. Let me go ahead and write deuterium here. So let's talk about the next isotope of hydrogen. That differ in the number of neutrons in their nuclei. An isotope, isotopes are atoms of a single element. So this is protium and let's talk about isotopes. So this is one, this one version of hydrogen. So this isn't actually what an atom looks like, but it's a very simply view that helps you get started. I'm going to draw that one electron somewhere outside the nucleus and I'm going to use the oversimplified Bohr model. So there's my one proton in the nucleus, and we're talking about a neutral hydrogen atom, so there's one electron. We know the atomic number of hydrogen is one, so there's one proton in the nucleus. So let's go ahead and draw an atom of hydrogen. In a neutral atom, the number of protons is equal to the number of electrons, because in a neutral atom there's no overall charge and the positive charges of the protons completely balance with the negative charges of the electrons. So it's right here, so there's one proton in the nucleus of a hydrogen atom. So for hydrogen, hydrogen's atomic number is one. So we're going to talk about hydrogen in this video. And you can find the atomic number on the periodic table. So the atomic number is symbolized by Z and it refers to the number of protons in a nucleus. There are ways it can happen, but they are not the normal course of events. So you do not usually have one isotope changing into another isotope of the same element. So, it is not possible to give you a general answer other than to say that the isotopes of an element form in one or more of the above ways, but each isotope of an element may or may not form in a similar way as other isotopes.Įxcept as listed above, an atom that is not radioactive never changes its number of neutrons. There are a few other ways, but they are not all that significant.Įach isotope (more properly called a nuclide) has its own way(s) in which it is formed. Being changed from one type of atom to another by high energy nuclear reactions, such as having a neutron slam into the nucleus at an extremely high velocity. With the exception of the hydrogen and helium that were formed shortly after the Big Bang event, elements mainly form in the following ways:Ĥ. The American Merriam-Webster Dictionary distinguishes misogyny "a hatred of women" from sexism, which denotes sex based discrimination, and "behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex." The word was rarely used until it was popularised by second-wave feminism in the 1970s.Įnglish and American dictionaries define misogyny as "hatred of women" and as "hatred, dislike, or mistrust of women". Racism and other prejudices may reinforce and overlap with misogyny.Īccording to the Oxford English Dictionary the English word "misogyny" was coined in the middle of the 17th century from the Greek misos 'hatred' + gunē 'woman'. Misogyny may or may not include hate towards LGBT people, in the forms of homophobia and transmisogyny. It rejects any aspects of men that are seen as feminine or unmanly. It holds in contempt institutions, work, hobbies, or habits associated with women. In feminist thought, misogyny also includes the rejection of feminine qualities. Sometimes misogyny manifests in obvious and bold ways other times it is more subtle or disguised in ways that provide plausible deniability. Misogyny can be understood both as an attitude held by individuals, primarily by men, and as a widespread cultural custom or system. In some cases, misogyny rewards women for accepting an inferior status. Misogyny also often operates through sexual harassment, coercion, and psychological techniques aimed at controlling women, and by legally or socially excluding women from full citizenship. It is reflected in art, literature, human societal structure, historical events, mythology, philosophy, and religion worldwide.Īn example of misogyny is violence against women, which includes domestic violence and, in its most extreme forms, misogynist terrorism and femicide. Misogyny has been widely practised for thousands of years. It is a form of sexism that is used to keep women at a lower social status than men, thus maintaining the social roles of patriarchy. Misogyny ( / m ɪ ˈ s ɒ dʒ ɪ n i/) is hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women or girls. Once the prawn suit is built, bring it to a base with a vehicle bay so it can be upgraded. Odds are good that the player may come across the drill arm and grappling arm upgrades, both of which are must-haves if players want to fight the reaper leviathan using this method. Try looking inside of wrecks located in the Dunes, Blood Kelp Trench, and Grand Reef area. Blueprints for arm attachments like the drill arm can only be found in wrecks scattered throughout the map. They tend to patrol areas around the Aurora, so be prepared to engage in some evasive maneuvers before boarding. The prawn suit blueprints can be found in Aurora’s vehicle bay, and it is while attempting to acquire said blueprints that players will likely encounter their first reaper leviathan. The materials required should be self-explanatory, but just know that both methods will require the player to obtain some blueprints before being put into action. The “Stasis Rifle and Blade” approach and the “Prawn Suit Drill” approach. Keep in mind that the reaper will likely attack said vehicle, so it is highly advised that players upgrade their vehicle to have defensive modules in place.įor the actual fight itself, there are two main methods. It will be incredibly useful if players want to quickly approach the reaper or run away from one. The fight itself will take also take a long time, so players either need to have extra oxygen tanks on their person or have ready access to a vehicle. It is also highly recommended to have a fully-charged seaglide for quick transport. Even if the player is wearing a reinforced dive suit, the damage received will be extensive. The reaper leviathan is likely going to land several attacks, and this will deal more than enough damage to kill the player several times over. For starters, stock up on first aid kits. Due to the player being at an obvious disadvantage, players need to do a decent amount of prep work before they actually try to start the fight. |
